The right time for the session

The question comes up at every exchange: when to do the session? The short answer is between week 28 and 32 of amenorrhea. The longer answer deserves some precision, because some situations call for an earlier or later appointment. This guide explains why this window is most used, and what the alternatives offer.

At week 28 (around month 7), the belly is visibly rounded without yet weighing on mobility. First trimester fatigue is behind. Baby is not in low position, allowing comfortable poses. Skin tissues gain radiance under hormonal effect. The 28–32 SA period remains most used because it combines these conditions without constraint.

At month 6 (24–28 SA), the belly is more discreet but clearly present. This is a coherent aesthetic choice for those wanting a more graphic rendering, or who want to integrate the session into a broader project.

At month 9 (35 SA and beyond), fatigue makes the session more delicate but still possible. The advantage: the belly is at its peak, the transformation is total. Poses are adapted (more sitting and lying positions).

For twin or multiple pregnancies, the session can be brought forward to 24–28 SA. For at-risk pregnancies, the decision is always made with the medical team — the session can be organized at home to limit travel.
